PROCEDURE

There are several techniques in the liposuction procedures. Your surgeon will choose a technique based on your goals, body part to be treated, and your medical conditions.

• Suction-assisted liposuction

A thin tube will be inserted under the skin after making a small incision on the skin in the treatment area. This tube will be connected with Vacuum. The vacuum will suck out the fat cells and fluid from the treating area. During this procedure, the mixture of salt water to assist in fat removal, a pain killer and blood vessels narrowing medicine will be injected before inserting the tube.

• Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL)

The fat deposits will be broken in this procedure using a laser fiber. The fiber will be inserted through a small incision on the skin. The broken fat deposits will be removed using a thin tube.

• Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)

There are two methods in Ultrasound-assisted liposuction. A metal rod creating a certain energy will be inserted under the skin. This energy breaks the fat cells by opening the fat cell wall.

Another method is known as Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance (VASER). In this kind, A machine is used to break the fat cells. It also loosens them for easy removal.

• Power-assisted liposuction (PAL)

A thin tube through a small incision on the skin will be inserted in this procedure. The tube will be moved back and forth by the surgeon to remove fat deposits out. This method is effective for removing tough fat deposits and it is also accurate.

TREATMENT DETAILS

Fat cells get bigger when individuals gain weight. In liposuction, the number of fat cells in a specific area is reduced through procedures for contouring purposes.

Dimpled skin caused by cellulite and stretch marks cannot be fixed through liposuction. The amount of fat to be removed depends on the shape goals and volume of fat deposits in the specific area.

After the Surgery, the skin molds itself. The molding of the skin process depends on elasticity and tone of the skin. The skin in the treated area may look loose due to lack of elasticity and if the skin is thin.

PREPARATION FOR TREATMENT

Consultation with the surgeon will take place at first. It will include a physical examination, reviewing your medical history. It is important to inform your surgeon if you have any allergies for any medications. If you are taking any medications currently, it is important to inform your surgeon. Accordingly he will decide the procedure. Some lab tests may be recommended before the procedure.

Individuals with other medical conditions including diabetes, blood flow problems, coronary artery disease may have risks in taking this treatment. If they have weak immune systems also, it will bring more complications in taking up this treatment. Proper education about risks and complications will be shared with you for better decisions and awareness.

RECOVERY

The incision made during the surgery will be left unclosed or a tube will be added there temporarily to pull out fluids gathering under the skin.

After the procedure, individuals can experience pain, swelling and bruising in the treated area. The postoperative medications prescribed will be supportive to reduce the pain and also decrease the risk of infection.

It is recommended to wear tight garment for few weeks. It is imperative to reduce the swelling in the treated area. These garments are usually known as compression garments. It will take weeks to months for swelling to get away.
