Dr.Shanmugasundaram

Dr. Shanmugasundaram is a highly experienced urologist and general surgeon, specialising in male infertility and female urogynaecological surgery. With a focus on andrology, he has successfully treated numerous couples facing sexual health challenges, performing over 10,000 surgeries aimed at addressing male factor infertility, including laparoscopic varicocele surgeries and vasectomy reversals. He obtained his superspeciality degree in Urology from the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, in 2008, and later earned his DNB in the same specialty.

Throughout his decade-long tenure at CMC Vellore, Dr. Shanmugasundaram gained extensive experience in various urological and renal transplant surgeries, having performed over 100 renal transplants and 220 donor surgeries. His expertise in laparoscopic donor nephrectomies and multivessel renal transplants is complemented by a strong interest in reconstructive urology. After serving as an associate professor in the Urology department, he now leads the department, dedicating himself to both patient care and the education of future urologists.

An avid academician, Dr. Shanmugasundaram has published 24 peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals and is a lifetime member of several esteemed medical societies, including the Urological Society of India and the European Association of Urology. He is committed to staying at the forefront of his field through continuous learning and innovation, actively participating in national and international conferences to share his research findings.
